As the founder of Astute Townsville Central, (previously Landy James Finance) I believe in providing personal service and individual financial solutions to all of our customers.
Previously I have worked for the Commonwealth Bank for 12 years, gaining extensive knowledge in Personal Finance, Small Business Finance, Corporate Finance and Agribusiness.
In 2005 I left CBA and formed the successful business, known then as Landy James Finance, with Ernie Landy. Since then the business has grown, now incorporating all aspects of finance, insurance and wealth.
Our evolving services called for a revamp in the business, in 2014 Landy James Finance was rebranded to Astute. Still holding the same values of honesty, integrity and customer service which we have built our reputation on.
With 20 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, I have an extensive knowledge of Bank Lending policies and have built a network of business advisors and client advocates.
Being self-employed and having a number of staff, I have first hand experience in the day to day challenges facing small business owners and can better provide real world solutions to their finance requirements.
Personally, I enjoy spending time with my two sons, playing and watching sport, keeping fit and active and greatly enjoy the outdoors.
Our dream home was a colonial-style, spacious, forever-type home with wrap around verandas and beautiful timber floors throughout. Regrettably, after being subjected to twelve months of ineffectual communication with both banks and mortgage brokers throughout Queensland, our dream of a colonial-style home was no closer to realisation. We will be eternally grateful however, that Astute Townsville Central was recommended to us as a highly professional finance brokerage renowned for procuring home loans when other mortgage brokers were unsuccessful. Buying your first home is a very stressful process. There is only so much information you can take on board before it all becomes a complicated mess. Even worse, going through this process on my own, only to be faced with issues and delays from the bank, meant that I was very close to giving up on my dream of buying my first home.

The building process was a long and testing one for my husband and i, but knowing we had the team at astute to handle all the of payments and transfers made the world of difference. Mark and I walked into Astute financial to have a meeting with broker Lisa Cody, we went in thinking we would get knocked back but Lisa’s positive attitude and passion for her job got us excited. Lisa always kept great communication and got us over the line. 🤗🤗 We then dealt mostly with Taleisha, Lisa’s loans support officer – she answered all of my silly questions and made things super simple for us as first time builders and home owners. We could not recommend the team at Astute enough.
Denise is amazing. She helped sort out a tricky situation that others didn’t help with. She’s friendly and approachable and really cares about you! There was never any pressure to sign a loan and she went out of her way to help. Highly recommended to those wanting someone they can trust!
